Looking for a Free CamCard Alternative?

Published: 2026-10-28

A friend messaged me last week. He was at a seminar in Gulshan, collected maybe 15 cards, and by night he couldn't find half of them. His jacket pocket, his bag, his car. Gone. He used to use CamCard but now it asks for a subscription. So he asked me, what's a free alternative?

I told him what I use. TuqTaq Card. It's a web app, so you just open it in your phone browser. Nothing to install.

Why people leave CamCard

CamCard was great for years. Then it went paid. I get it, they need to make money. But for a student or a young professional in Dhaka, paying monthly just to scan a card feels like a lot. Especially when you only need it a few times a month.

There are other apps too. Most want you to sign up, or they put a limit on scans, or they show ads. Some are fine. But if you just want to scan a card and save the number, it shouldn't be this hard.

What I actually need from a card scanner

Let me be honest. I don't need fancy features. I need three things.

That's it. If it reads Bangla cards too, even better. Half the cards I get at trade fairs in Purbachal have Bangla on them.

How TuqTaq Card works

You open the site in your browser. No sign-in needed to scan. You point your camera at the card. It reads it. You save it to your contacts or share it. The whole thing is about 2 taps.

It reads English and Bangla cards. It saves to phone contacts. You can export to Excel or CSV if you're the type who keeps a spreadsheet. And there's a My card page with a QR code, so you can share your own card on WhatsApp or SMS.

It's free for as long as the owner can afford it. That's the honest line. No hidden pricing page.

A small story

Last month I was at a chai break at a client's office. A guy gave me his card. I scanned it right there while we were talking. By the time I got back to my desk, his number was already in my phone. No pile of cards on my table. No WhatsApp message at night asking "bhai, apnar number ta ki abar pathate paren?"

That's the whole point. Scan it when you get it. Not later.

What it doesn't do

I should be straight with you. It's not a CRM. It won't track leads or remind you to follow up. It's a scanner. If you need a full contact management system, this isn't that.

Also, it's a web app. If you're offline, it won't work. You need internet. That's the trade-off for not installing anything.

Should you switch?

If you're paying for CamCard and you only use it to scan cards, try a free option first. See if it does what you need. If it does, you save money. If it doesn't, you go back. No harm.

If you're a student who just started internships, or a young professional who goes to a lot of events, a free scanner is enough. You don't need to pay for something you use twice a week.

Give TuqTaq Card a try next time someone hands you a card. Open it in your browser, scan, save. See if it fits how you work.
