Turn a pile of business cards into an Excel sheet

Scan each card with your phone, then export all of them in one file: a spreadsheet for Excel, or a contacts file for your phone.

Scan a card, it's freeFree for as long as we can afford it. No sign-in to scan.

The steps

  1. Open card.tuqtaq.com on your phone, tap Scan a card and hold the card in the frame. Check the details and tap Save.
  2. Do the same for the rest of the pile. Add where you met in the note, it ends up in the sheet.
  3. Open your saved cards, select them, tap Export and choose Spreadsheet (.csv). A file called tuqtaq-cards.csv downloads.
  4. Open it in Excel (File, Open) or Google Sheets (File, Import, Upload). One row per card, ready to sort and filter.

What the file looks like

The first row is the header: Name, Title, Company, Phone, Phone 2, Email, Email 2, Website, Address, Met at, Met on, Note. Then one row per card, for example: Tahmina Rahman, Head of Procurement, Shapla Fabrics Ltd, +880 1711-000214, tahmina@shapla.example.

The file is UTF-8, so Bangla letters show correctly in Excel and Google Sheets.

Tip: remove duplicates

Scanned the same person twice? Names are spelled in different ways, so use the Email column. In Excel: select the column, Data, Remove Duplicates. In Google Sheets: Data, Data cleanup, Remove duplicates.
